So, for the first time EVER, we planned a girls weekend getaway within….let’s say FIFTEEN MINUTES!! Amazing! I have never experienced this before and I was amazed, to say the least! This is how it happened…
Jenny decided it was time to plan our next trip and this time we should go to Durban…by train! Well, in South Africa, travelling by train is not only risky, but expensive. I did some research and found that there are two or three affordable long distance railway services that are safe to use. Because we are big on budget, we would choose the cheapest of them all. That means the Shosholoza Meyl. There are different classes on the train and again, we would go by Tourist Class in stead of Premier Class. The cost from Johannesburg to Durban was not bad at all and it would take approximately 12 to 14 hours to reach our destination. Now, we all got quite excited about partying on the train for that long, but then we realised you are not allowed to smoke on the train. Bummer!! There are a couple of girls in our group that smoke. And for a smoker to hold out for 12 to 14 hours could be a problem. Especially if they decide to try and smoke secretly and maybe get caught…and maybe get thrown off the train…in the middle of nowhere! Nope, we were not prepared to take that risk! 🙂
Then, via our Whatsapp group we decided to make use of a private transport agency, whom is a friend of Jenny’s dad. Within literally minutes we arranged for transport and booked our accommodation! Unbelievable!!
The set date is 31 October 2014 – some people celebrate Halloween on that day, and so I thought it a good idea to make our theme for the weekend “Halloween with a Twist”. Check out my PowerPoint Presentation that I set up for fun, under the Themes page. Instead of “trick or treat”, we must “tell or treat”. It’s going to be fun seeing what everyone has in store 🙂 For the first time we have all ordered cups, stainless steel glasses or mugs which has been personalized as per individual requests. I will post some pictures as soon as I can.
I am so looking forward to this trip! Cannot wait!
